Even though Danielle and Kay are starting college this year and Garrett and Griffin are juniors in high school, whenever I take care of them or do anything with them, I still refer to them as “my munchkins” or “the chikadees.” Even though they stopped being five years old a long time ago.
Last week we moved Danielle and Kay up to college for their freshman years. We had one last day together, where we drove around picking up last-minute things for them. Kay and I made these creations on the touchscreen desktops at Best Buy while Danielle attempted to have her computer fixed (I had been told in five minutes flat that it wasn’t worth getting my camera fixed):
The next day we moved Danielle in, which was exciting for her and just routine for my parents and I (she’s the third of us to go to college). Update: she’s enjoying it so far.
Dorm room in progress. While I’m all into pastels and whites and natural colors, she’s totally into cooler ones with black as the main theme.
This is my dad, for whom moving kids into dorm rooms has become a regular thing, since the first child he moved in was my older sister to her residential high school nearly 7 years ago.
I said goodbye to Kay a few days later at my brother’s marching band preview (marching band has been part of my life for nearly as long as I can remember) and she moved up the next day.
This is day two of the sunflower dress, btdubs.
Anyway, they’re both enjoying it so far, and Snapchat and Facebook Groupchat make the distance nonexistent.
Here’s to having a home in the mountains of NC, too. I swear I’m just racking up places to live around the world.
